Town of Chilton
Town Board
February 13, 2012

Chairman John Schwarz called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  In attendance were the Town Board, John Karls, Dean Heimermann, Dave Juckem, Don Ruhland, Mary Kohrell from the UWEX, and Dan Bergelin.

Public Comments:  John Karls reported that Bob Nagel, from Holsum Dairy Elm, requested that they would like children at play signs put up by the Elm Road entrance.  They will purchase the signs.  The Board will contact the Wisconsin Town’s Association to check on liability if we install them.

Mary Kohrell provided information on the Calumet County Clean Sweep Program.  She explained that there have always been two locations to drop-off hazardous materials and between Veolia and State grant money this has always worked.  This year State grants have been reduced by 15 - 20 thousand dollars.  Veolia has always helped out according to their contract.  This year they will provide enough money to operate 1.5 sites, so there is a shortfall.  Most municipalities are willing to donate on a per capita basis, but she asked the Town of Chilton if they could provide extra to keep two sites open this year.  Eventually only one site per year will probably be held.  Andy Pethan made a motion to give a one time only donation of $2500, second by Tim Lau, motion carried.

Andy Pethan made a motion to approve minutes from the January 16, 2012 meeting, second by Tim Lau, motion carried.

Tim Lau made a motion to approve the Treasurers report, second by Andy Pethan, motion carried.

Communications:  The City of Chilton has sent a density map that includes the extraterritorial area that sets the area around the golf course as rural character and a density of 1 house per 2 acres.  The Town has this mapped as 1 in 20 and have been advised the City’s map will not comply with the Town’s map and will not have any consequence to the Town.  The electric heaters in the Town Hall have not been operating at all or do not seem to stop.  They have been worked before, so the Town Board will try to find some other options.  The lighting in the Town shop has been brought up again.  The Board will try to get some pricing by next meeting.

Andy Pethan made a motion to approve the Chilton Fire Department contract that will run from January 1, 2013 - December 31, 2017, second by Tim Lau, motion carried.

Property Changes:  Jack Daun - Tear down old barn.  Lon Schroeder - shed addition.  Jim Casper - remodel project.  Glen Kees - shed.

Andy Pethan made a motion to adjourn at 9:25 p.m., second by Tim Lau, motion carried.

Respectfully submitted, Doug Koffarnus, Clerk
