Public Hearing on the Proposed Zoning Ordinance & Map
February 27, 2012

Chairman John Schwarz called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. In attendance were the Town Board, Jon Bartz from Martenson & Eisele, Julie Schmelzer from County Planning, Eugene McLeod from County Land & Water, and 10 people signed the roll call.

Chairman Schwarz stated that to try to erase some confusion the following statement was made. Just because you are zoned in a farmland preservation area on the map, you are not in the farmland preservation program. Farmland preservation is a voluntary program.

Jon Bartz reviewed the process at how the Town arrived with the current proposed zoning ordinance and map. He provided a handout which described the differences between Farmland Preservation and General Agriculture.

Eugene McLeod reported that the County already has an ordinance that requires conservation compliance, so farmland preservation will not change anything, but you have to be manually inspected to receive tax credits if you sign up.

Jon, Julie, and Eugene held a question and answer period.

There are still positive and negative opinions to zoning and farmland preservation.

The Public Hearing was closed at 8:35 pm.

TOWN BOARD MEETING

Chairman Schwarz called the Town Board meeting to order at 8:35 pm.

Tim Lau made a motion to adopt the proposed Zoning Ordinance and Map as Farmland Preservation as presented, second by Andy Pethan, motion carried.

Andy Pethan made a motion to adjourn at 8:40 p.m., second by Tim Lau , motion carried.
